There must be a lot of programmers in here. And apparently a fair number of programmers like to use proportional fonts (faster to read). But I've never found one which has unique characters (eye, ell, one), which is an absolute for programming. There must be one out there somewhere. Do I really have to make my own?

What programming language? I thought everyone preferred monospaced typefaces. /JeppeSN

Not sure why it matters which language, but Python or C++. I prefer proportional for reading say this forum. I've read in many places that a lot of programmers like it too, although I've never tried due to the limitation of identical characters.

Ok, so it's probably a silly idea for programming. But what about everything else? What about this forum for example? It's really annoying when someone writes something technical in here and I can't tell what character it is without copying and pasting it into Notepad or something. What fool ever designed a font where characters are the same?!

Are you complaining about proportional fonts vs monospaced fonts or are you complaining about serif fonts vs sanserif fonts? All fonts have their good points and bad points...there is no one font that solves everyone's problems.

If you really want a specific font for a specific purpose then you will have to make your own font.

I'm complaining that all non-serif fonts makes eye ell and one identical. But it seems there are a few which have the common sense to put a serif on only when it's required, kinda like we do in real life with a pen. I chose Verdana.
