Is it a good idea to have PPS Sv as CPU default subproject? Feels to me it's a big waste of CPU cycles, they take almost a day while a GPU takes a few minutes.

SGS would be a good choice, in my opinion. The tasks are short, so new users won't be freaked out. And they run efficiently on CPU, i.e. the user is actually doing useful work.

Sieves have traditionally been chosen as default projects because things like LLR run very hot and have the potential to break things for unsuspecting new users.

Indeed, SGS with its shorter units running single-threaded is among the worst projects to choose in regards to heat.

I see, I still think it's a waste, but I understand that PG admins don't want to be responsible for hardware failures.
