2912 hours CPU for SOB task?

I remember seeing about 200+ hours estimated for SOB tasks. I go to the task subtype selection menu now, and I see 2912 hours estimated for SOB. This isn't accurate is it? | |

That's a really, really good question.
The average CPU time for all validated SoB tasks currently in the database is 1605 hours. For those same tasks, the average elapsed time is a very reasonable 320 hours. (Those numbers differ somewhat from what you see on that webpage because that page is showing the average of the most recent 1000 tasks.)
Something's odd there, and I don't know what it is. There was a new BOINC client released recently, so perhaps that's related. On the other hand, only SoB is affected, so it's probably not the new BOINC client.
The new charts that went recently show elapsed time rather than cpu time, and therefore show a more reasonable time for SoB.

My last one took 117 hours (fast FMA3) so it much be usual Boinc estimation inaccuracy or something else is eating your CPU cycles. | |

I wasn't actually running a SOB task. I was on the web page for selecting PG task subtypes, and I saw 2912 hours listed for SOB tasks. | |

Found out what's going on. There's a single SoB result with a ridiculously large cpu time of about 2.5 million hours. It's obviously inaccurate, for whatever reason, but that one task is throwing the whole average off.
Not sure yet if I'll tweak it, or just let it eventually get purged from the system in the normal course of events. I'll probably fix it, but it needs more thought first.

I've seen a ridiculously high estimated time for SoB before, and it corrected itself -- maybe one system is reporting absurd times?

It's fixed now, but if it happens again I'll need to make those statistics a little smarter and filter out results like that.
