Is there any way to have separate primegrid-specific preferences?

I have a few machines, some of them are fine with avx, some need sse3. Is there any way, other than setting up separate accounts where one sends avx and one sends sse3 (my current kludge), to leverage home/work/other "profiles" where I could accomplish the same thing with a single account?

Tl;dr version: No, but hopefully the AVX selection in the preferences will go away completely in the near future, so you won't need so many different selections.

You can have 4 sets of preferences (---/home/work/school), but other than that, no.

I assume you're talking about the GFN CPU apps, right? Hopefully in the near future that will be replaced with a single CPU app, so no preference selections will be necessary (similar to the way LLR works currently). No promises, but we were just talking earlier today about bringing that live sooner rather than later. It seems that the latest version of BOINC, 7.2.39, has broken the server's ability to detect AVX ans SSE3 capabilities on Macs, which means that Macs running the new BOINC client can't get GFN CPU tasks anymore. Getting rid of the preferences would fix that problem.

There's also app_info as a way to choose exactly what you want to run on each machine, but I fully understand the difficulties and tradeoffs associated with using that mechanism.

I think I have it working with a home/work set of profiles, although it is at least temporarily moot, given the 7.2.39 issues.

Many thanks.
