Why would this work unit be coming up as "Completed, marked as invalid"? It is a bit annoying, seeing as it appears it was running for two weeks.

I have no sign of overheating and I have done no overclocking.

Four results for this workunit were returned:

1: 14108^4194304+1 is a probable composite. (RES=8288c6e520e49cbc) (17404120 digits) (err = 0.0005) (time = 127:45:23) 22:33:34
2: 14108^4194304+1 is a probable composite. (RES=c3d3fd315b201fe0) (17404120 digits) (err = 0.0004) (time = 353:15:55) 14:48:37
3: 14108^4194304+1 is a probable composite. (RES=0000000000000000) (17404120 digits) (err = 0.0000) (time = 1:28:35) 01:04:20
4: 14108^4194304+1 is a probable composite. (RES=8288c6e520e49cbc) (17404120 digits) (err = 0.0005) (time = 66:51:35) 03:22:08

Result #3, with the "000000..." residue is clearly bad, and in fact that host ALWAYS returns that residue for every task.

Results 1 and 4 are the two correct results with matching residues.

Your result, #2, while it didn't show any obvious signs of error, still incurred a hardware error at some point in the calculation and did not produce the correct result.

Your GPU is a GTX 550 Ti, which, if I remember correctly, is exceptionally prone to having trouble with Genefer. Not only can it not be overclocked, but many GTX 550 Ti's actually need to have the memory clock underclocked in order to achieve consistently stable results.

Thank you for that explanation. I had tried to search for the answer myself but got overwhelmed with all the GPU-related information.

I've never felt the need before to go into the sub-project settings on any project, but I've done so and switched off the NVIDIA options for Genefer.

Fair enough. Genefer is definitely not one of those "hands off" projects. The only GPU I have got it to run on without having to change anything is a brand new GTX 780. I have a GTX 580, GTX 560 and GTX 470 too - and the only thing I can get to run on the 470 is PPS sieve (period). I have underclocked the 580 and 560 and think I finally have them to the point they can run Genefer-WR - the 560 was even bombing out on the non-WR Genefer initially :(

So it can be frustrating - and if you don't wish to tweak things for Genefer then turning it off is probably for the best. There's a reason the Genefer sections of the preferences have so many notes in them ;)
