In the extreme.
It shouldn't have caught it, but it did. & I haven't been able to notice until now.
An Atom N270 machine has 2 SoBs going for 266 hours. It's 6.6% in. Based on that it won't finish them until 11 August.
Do I abort, wasting 11 days, but not wasting 5 months?
Or will I get something for it if I just leave it for the 'long-haul'?
Thanks. | |

Depends on how lucky you feel. If you return the units before purging you will most likely get points if it matches. If they purge they will be for nothing.
In my opinion, I'd bite losing 11 days of work and move on. Lesson learned. Best to abort them back so someone else gets them instead of waiting for the timeout in April.

Definitely abort.
Even if your atom finishes the tasks successfully, there's a significant chance that the WU will completed and purged from the database before your computer finishes. If that happens, you'll be wasting not 11 days of crunching, but half a year of crunching with nothing at all to show for it.

I can confirm that aborting is by far the best choice.
A brief survey of my SOB jobs shows they get checked and double checked in an average of about 35 days, admittedly a few may go for 6 months but they are rare, my longest in years of PG is 4 months. Without bothering to do the stats I estimate it is a less than 0.1% chance that you will get credit for these tasks if you finish them.
You must be the only person who actually wants your wingman to take an age to finish!!

Yep, abort it as soon as you read these replies. We've all "wasted" similar amounts of time, for whatever reason; be it a simple mistake, or because we were trying out something new which didn't quite work. 11 days can be forgotten quickly, don't prolong it. Aborting is not a bad thing at all, if you know there's a problem of whatever kind then it's best for everyone that you abort. Damage limitation, and in this case no "damage" has been done, unless you count the 11 days of accidental crunching which nobody else will care about. | |
