I have one SOB task that has shown as pending credit for 4 days. How long does this take to resolve and post my credit?

To be validated the WU has to be crunched by another computer and give the same result as yours. This has not happened yet. So it might take anything from an hour to several weeks until the second result is turned in.

Four days? Ha! I've had one pending for almost two months!
Part of the problem is that SoBs are so long that many people don't want to crunch them, so they often get passed out to people who leave "Send work from any subproject if selected projects have no work" on. Often these people don't want that work, or it's inappropriate for their slow computer, but they often don't notice it for awhile.

This one was four days short of three months between the time my computer finished and the time another computer finally returned a result.
This can happen on any project where matching results from more than one computer are required. I've waited months for credit from WUs on SETI.
The good news is, you will absolutely get credit eventually, assuming your computer crunched the numbers correctly.
The bad news is "eventually" can be several months. If your wingman goes AWOL, you're going to have to wait 28 days before the task is sent out to a third computer. If that happens a few times, the months can add up quickly.

Now I understand.
My first two SOB tasks posted credits immediately.
I guess that means I was wingman for someone else.
Thanks,

Correct. If you're 'lucky' enough to get assigned a WU where someone else has already completed it, you'll get almost immediate credit.
If you're the first one to return the WU, you have to wait. The good part about that is that it's the first guy who gets the full credit, fame and glory for finding the prime. And finding an SoB prime would be a fairly big deal. There aren't a lot of them left, but they're pretty big numbers.

I've been waiting since Aug 19 for validation (That's after crashing a prior SOB with over 300 hrs just prior to this one. )
That's why I'm crunching 6 SOB right now and will go onto other subprojects while awating validation.
I must confess over this one subprject, that an alternative method of awarding points be considered, ie. award ponts rather quickly and if non-validation occurs then remove the points.
My two cents- that's all I have left! |

dont panic!
I think admin (john, lennart, rytis) can fix it by increase counters ...
perhaps a private message will help, if there is no action in a few days

Hmmm. You've got a sapphire badge in SoB, with almost 1.5 million credits -- that's some 150 WUs, and you've never seen this happen before? I guess you're (seriously) very, very lucky. Or I'm very, very unlucky. I've done 1/100th the work you've done on SoB and this has happened to me a few times already.
You'll still get credit; you just have to wait for someone else to complete the WU. When the WU hits 15 results, it gets automatically increased to 35.
