I did a quick search for this prior to posting, but didn't find anything. I apologize in advance if it's already been covered:

This work unit:
http://www.primegrid.com/workunit.php?wuid=116654855
has a status of "Completed, waiting for validation" by one user who got through it in just over three seconds.

I've got a computer working on it as well, and I know my machine isn't the fastest, but it's going to take me close to 320 hours to complete. Is there an easy explanation for the orders of magnitude difference in completion times?

It's an error. When your WU is complete, the server will match the two WU's, and since they don't match, a third WU will be issued.

As Jay said, the other result is erroneous -- OR he's got the whole motherboard cooled to within a degree of absolute zero, has the chip overclocked into the Terahertz range (maybe the one after that -- Pitahertz?), and has it wired straight into a nuclear plant. Or he's got a time machine and is running a PC from 20 years in the future.

My money's on it being an error.

My kind-of-average C2Q Q6600 is doing the newer n=18M SoB WUs in around 330 hours, so the time you're looking at seems completely reasonable.
