Hi guys. I'm running boinc for primegrid with the default settings.
I just set in the advanced view of the client to run "cpu, gpu and network always".
Is that the best configuration?
I'm using an old Pentium (quad core 2.66) and celeron (dual core 3.2). |

Yes, if you want to suspend PrimeGrid for gaming or smth else, just suspend GPU or suspend computing.

No tricks for better speed?
Is just "plug and play"? |

Hmm PM, or you could look at other threads on the forum about CPU tuning and overclocking.

FYI: As the second link says, it's best not to overclock your GPU, even underclock it if it's producing bad results. Always try underclocking if any of your components are producing bad results, etc. underclock memory and CPU for bad LLR (uses CPU) tasks.

Welcome to PG.
Keep an eye on your CPU temperatures via something like SpeedFan or MSI Afterburner or HWInfo. For your machines you should find you are effective at 321 sv to start you off - you won't find any new primes this way as it is sieving, but it is nonetheless a valuable & quantifiable contribution. You can only do what you do & appreciate that. The LLR prime-finding projects will be more taxing but worth a go providing temperatures stay below say 70~80C. |

Pentium is stick to 75°. Celeron to 55°. Stable 24H so i think temps are ok.
75° is not that good but it's the best i can obtain with my cooling.
What about the job? From screen below is all normal or i'm just wasting time and energy?

75C is ok.
The task cache is fine, you can have a cache of units for sieving without too much adversity. You've completed at least one task successfully so that's a good start. Keep things simple to start out with. Number of pending tasks (tasks that are awaiting successful completion by the wingperson for that task) may grow but it will stabilise over the next few days. |

All seems to be normal, since we can't see your temps from that screenshot. 75 and 55 aren't that bad--my laptop runs at 80, and are those machines laptops or desktops? Just make sure nothing produces an error.

Bear in mind you are using the message boards under your Luca user account name, not the account you signed up to & your machines are connected to.

Hope this helps the confusion. |
