I just enabled CPU tasks for GFN-22.
Don't be stupid, please. These are insanely long tasks. If your computer isn't running 24/7, don't even try. It will take a Haswell-class desktop (i.e., FMA3-capable Intel or Zen 2 AMD) over three weeks to run one of these on a single core.
In most cases, having hyperthreading enabled is a really, really bad idea.
It's strongly suggested to use app_info.xml to enable multi-threading.
(Multi-threading isn't supported at this time.)
If any of this doesn't make sense to you, please do both yourself and your potential wingmates a favor and either run the GPU app instead or just run something else.

This is awesome. Once the mini-challenge with 321 Sieve is over with, I will set loose my i7 6700k and i7 7700k (multi-threaded for four cores) so as to get us some benchmarks!
Edit: My GTX 1080 took 44 hrs to complete one unit whereas my GTX 1060 (3 Gb) took 73 hrs during an earlier test run. Eager to see what my i7's will require. |

My original post said that multi-threading is supported via app_info.xml. This is not correct. GFN-22 can only by run single threaded.

I read somewhere some time ago that only GFN21 and GFN22 can be multithreaded, but GFN22 cannot be run on CPU, so only GFN21 is available for MT. Is this still the case now?

You're absolutely correct.
A multithreaded version of GFN22 is not yet implemented but if CPU tasks are enabled this should be done. |

Is it a lot of work to implement such functionality? |

I would like to take this opportunity to implement AVX512 code.
A few weeks of work and that's not a priority.

it started to take forever for some GFN-22 tasks to get verified, before about two weeks were enough, now they are sitting over month.
Apparently your wisdom got ignored =) |

Is it on the to-do list right now?

Hi,
Could GFN22 CPU MT be implemented before next year? Or is it too low of a priority?
Thanks!
