Can someone please help me with why I am getting these errors all of a sudden?
This never used to happen before. Why is this happening and what can I do to fix it?

"The system cannot find the device specified..."

That implies there was an issue w/ your GPU. Did it exhibit any other problems?

The GPU isn't available. This can have many causes. Some of the more common ones are:

* Accessing the computer using Windows Remote Desktop.
* Installing BOINC as a service.
* Windows 10 automatically installed new video drivers, and those drivers did not include the OpenCL drivers.

That last one is easy to test for. If you can run PPS-Sieve on the GPU, but not GFN or AP27, it's because the video driver lacks OpenCL.

Mike, note that he is running CPU Genefer.

1. You PC is faulty - overheating, bad memory, etc. In most cases, message above mean computation error (internal self-test failed)
2. In theory, GFN17-Mega project may have reached CPU limit, where more and more workunits will start giving this error - this how the transform works. (I don't monitor GFN-17 and not know how far the leading edge is from this point)

You're right -- I stopped reading after this part:

<core_client_version>7.12.1</core_client_version>
<![CDATA[
<message>

(0x14) - exit code 20 (0x14)</message>

When I saw "device not found", I was thinking GPU. Ok, so it's a different problem:

It could be a PC problem, or it could be it's time to shut off CPU tasks for 17-MEGA. The tested limit is above 65M, so we're not all that close. But the limit is approximate, and we may start seeing some tests fail on some processors. I vaguely recall that different processors produce different error levels, even though they're all running the same x87 transform.

This will require some investigation.

The tests will take hours to run, but at this point my money's on (1): It's a hardware error on the computer.

If the B limit had been hit, the error would be 100% repeatable, and would fail at the same location each time. On one of your two tasks with errors, some of the retries are able to proceed through the point where the previous error occurred. That's indicative of a hardware error, not a B limit problem.

Of course, I jinxed it.

A few minutes later:

Testing 59575018^131072+1...
Using x87 (80-bit) transform
Starting initialization...
Initialization complete (0.191 seconds).
Estimated time for 59575018^131072+1 is 5:03:00
Testing 59575018^131072+1... 2682888 steps to go (4:06:01 remaining)
maxErr exceeded for 59575018^131072+1, 0.4531 > 0.4500
Errors occurred for all available transform implementations

That was run on the server that runs PrimeGrid.

We're still theoretically about 6 million away from the B limit, but the limit is fuzzy and some candidates will produce much higher (or lower) error values than surrounding candidates.

It looks like we've reached the point where some 17-MEGA CPU tasks will start failing. I've therefore disabled 17-MEGA CPU tasks. It will take me a while to remove it from the project preferences. I may wait until all of our tests finish.

At this point, therefore:

* There's nothing wrong with your computer.
* Select something else to run on the CPU.
