Are there uses for these numbers or is this just a mathematical timesink?

ok, we have the 10^googolplex to one chance of solving the RSA challenge. Then it could really get funny...

Well... Think again... There are no RSA challenge anymore... Sad but true... Looks like they decided it's waste of money when quantum computers are going to be rolled out after few years.

Actually, you're wrong. RSA discontinued Secret Key challenge, and not Factoring Challenge.
