How exactly is the interaction between the two projects? My understanding is that there are six candidates remaining for which no primes have been found (there are six k's at PrimeGrid's SoB stats page). What exactly does Seventeen or Bust do? Are they searching different ranges for the same k's PrimeGrid is working on? If so, does that mean one project will at some point enter a range for each k that was already tested by the other project?

Thanks for any clarification.

SoB, not PrimeGrid, is the main organization for this project. Essentially, PrimeGrid is one big "user" on SoB. We reserve large ranges of numbers from the SoB project and crunch them. When we're done with those ranges, we grab more ranges.

In effect, this means that PrimeGrid and the SoB project cooperate and split the workload between the two projects. Because we reserve specific ranges from them, we avoid duplicating work by not crunching the same numbers.

In stead of creating a new thread, I will ask following in this thread, since it's not all that off-topic :)

It's obvious that Primegrid will complete the n=20M to n=22M range that is currently reserved for Primegrid, before the "Double Top Secret Mystery Challenge", but what range is planned next? Is 16 days still going to be long enough or should the challengeduration be extended to allow more people to participate?

Take care

I run SoB on prime95 in parallel with tasks on BOINC.
What i like about the old client is seeing what number you are testing.
