Just wondering if there are some stats available for the hit rate for factors per work unit?

Ideally i would like a breakdown by month of work units completed and factors found.

Thanks

Matt

Hi Matt. :)

I guess this thread is related to this thread: http://www.free-dc.org/forum/showthread.php?t=20767 ?

Wouldn't factors found per 100T be more relevant?
I'm thinking something like:

58000T-58100T: x factors
58100T-58200T: x factors

Or even every one P:
56P-57P: x factors

Yes it is related to mentioned post, you're quite right that per 100T would be more informative - perhaps speaking to Joe O at SoB might bear more fruit than asking here.

We used to get that data from here: http://www.primestats.net/primegrid/charts.php

But since AlphaLaser has been missing for over a year now, the stats have not been corrected.

Unfortunately, the only way we'll see those stats is if someone does them externally like AlphaLaser did.

Sorry for the inconvenience. However, I think Joe O would be a good alternative source for this information for now.

Does this look accurate ?

*EDIT* no way to do factors per range unfortunately, that data is just not pushed out at all.

58100T-58200T: x factors

Or even every one P:
56P-57P: x factors

49P-50P 969 factors
50P-51P 936 factors
51P-52P 930 factors
52P-53P 923 factors
53P-54P 875 factors
54P-55P 862 factors
55P-56P 865 factors
56P-57P 875 factors
incomplete ranges below
57P-58P 827 factors
58P-59P 863 factors

1 WU = 3G
1 WU takes about ~32 minutes (avg. last 2K WU's - 32&64 bit combined)

As for the post in SoB forum, we are far from "optimal". With an n<50M sieve file, we still have quite a ways to go. Of course, if we find primes for all the k's in the next few days, then we might have over sieved. :D However, that is very unlikely. :)

Joe O and Lars have things well in control. :)

Thanks everyone. . . it looks like I've just been a hair on the unlucky side.

I've currently got 9 factors in 4282 WU or about 1 factor every 475 WU, which would seem to be less effective than LLRing for SoB, but it looks like even if the 57P to 58P range doesn't find any more factors in the last 45 WU it'll still be finding one factor every 403 WU which shows that my computer's better off Sieving, just like I figured it should be.

I guess I can look forward to a rush of factors. :-Þ (I know that's not how statistics work, but eh.)

Thanks all for the quick replies.

4282 WU =12846G = 12,8T

9 factors sounds ok i don't think you shall feel unlucky :)

Thats 900 Factors for 1,28 P
