After some rearrangement after the challenge I realise that I had downloaded, and run, a PPS seive task on one of my 32-bit machines.

It completed and validated so I guess that it is OK but, if there is some deeper reason that it is restricted to 64-bit only, it might need to be invalidated manually.

Anyone know _why_ PPS seive is 64-bit only, is it just a performance thing?

The result is fine...there's actually a 32 bit Windows app available. And yes, it's purely a performance thing. At the current sieve depth of 1P, 32 bit machines are better utilized on the LLR side while 64 bit machines are still "optimal" for sieving.

Thanks.

Nice to know the time wasn't wasted.

I also was able to get only 1 of my 32 bit computers to do a PPS Sieve yesterday and posted about it asking some questions here:
