I have a Mac running 10.4.11 on an old G4 tower with maxed out RAM, and sometimes I get assigned some C/W prime work that has like 48 hours turnaround. It looks like my computer does about 0.5 percent / hour -- so I need >200 hours, not 48 to complete it.

Perhaps you could greatly lengthen the turnaround times or else stop assigning these particular work units to old Macs?

I agree with that sentiment. On a G5, the leading edge tests for me can take 10 hours or more. I can understand that a G4 could be that slow. I don't think it would cause much harm to bump the expiration to more than 10 days (maybe even 20 days).

A suggestion for you would be to spend time on PPSE. The tests should be much faster, although I can see the desire to find a mega-bit prime on a G4.

The only other type of work I get on my G4 is the AP26. Those are quite doable within the time frame given, but I am happy to try any work sent my way as long as the deadlines are reasonable.

Grr. Keep getting these when I don't want them on the old mac (only on my much faster MacBook Pro, thanx). Can we get a reason for the fast deadlines?

There is a woodall-challenge underway - the deadline should be even shortened now to help the clearup after the challenge.

Now that the challenge is over, could we have more reasonable deadlines for those of us running 10.4 on old macs?
